Overview / Responsibilites

Massy Wood is searching for an HSSE&S Manager to support our Company's various projects.

 

The HSSE&S Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of health, safety, security and environment for the Company, including implementation of processes and procedures to meet legislation and liaising with Government authorities. The HSSE&S Manager is also responsible for designing and executing strategies, plans, training and audits to ensure all aspects of the Company’s operations are in compliance with HSSE&S statutory requirements and Company’s HSSE&S policies and procedures.

 

  • Lead HSSE&S by example
  • Co-ordinate and support the development, implementation and monitoring of the company’s HSSE&S annual plan in accordance with Massy, Wood, BU, and worksite requirements
  • Provide support for management level HSSE&S meetings e.g.  HSSE&S Steering Group, Environmental, Occupational Hygiene, HSSE&S (Quarterly and annual) Meetings, etc.
  • Support line management in monitoring and ensuring company standards and statutory duties are being met and audited as required by the Installation Safety Cases, including arranging the BU Permit To Work System audits
  • Support managers, in their dealings with the regulatory authorities; oversees exemptions and approvals with regard to offshore installations, mobile offshore units, onshore sites and  project activities.
  • Provide a comprehensive advice, interpretation and information service on all aspects of HSSE&S, including legislation and associated guidance, to all in the BU, including functional support to onshore and offshore BU HSSE&S staff thereby ensuring consistency of approach in all areas of HSSE&S management and programme implementation
  • Develop and maintain the HSSE&S component of the company management system in accordance with best practice and the relevant parts of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and OSHA
  • Assist in identifying and providing HSSE&S related training by providing input and material into training and awareness presentations
  • Liaise with Massy and Wood to gain appropriate specialist advice and support and give essential feedback for lateral learning including assisting with representation on Government / Industry Committees and Working Parties as required
  • Prepare and provide statistical performance data, using the corporate reporting systems including screening of all high potential incidents, reviewing incident trends and lost time incidents, ensuring that these are presented to the BU Incident Review Panel (IRP) or Activity Safety Review Panel (ASRP) and monitor action follow up
  • Provide advice and guidance on all matters relating to Safety Management System (SMS), Safety Case, PFEER, DCR, Major Hazard Register (as appropriate in Trinidad).
  • Act as focal point for Occupational Hygiene including the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), Chemical Handling Scheme, Noise, Heat Stress, Manual Handling and Display Screen equipment, Radiation Protection including maintenance of authorizations under the Radioactive Substances Act for offshore sources and maintenance of registers/ records
  • Provide proactive advice and support on environmental issues including: guidance and interpretation of policies and standards; monitoring auditing and updating of procedures, the Environmental Management System (EMS) and assessments and improvement studies; act as focal point for certain environmental notification and exemption procedures, the annual Waste Reduction Action Plan (WRAP),
  • Maintain the Environmental database for the BU
  • Act as the ‘gateway’ for new HSSE&S technology, specifically portable equipment, Personal Protective and Survival Equipment, that will benefit BU’s bottom line and co-ordinate input into BU’s HSSE&S research activities and the Company’s approved vendor lists
  • Keeping up to date with new HSSE&S technology and vendors to ensure that the most effective software and equipment is being utilised to the Company’s benefit
  • Anticipating HSSE&S situations that may negatively impact the Company’s operations or business and recommending strategies to prevent or mitigate the negative impact
  • Prompt dissemination of relevant information to management and employees.
  • Performs all other job-related functions as required. 

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health from a recognised university.
  • Certified Safety Professional from a recognised Professional Safety Board would be an asset.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Excellent communications skills.
