Massy Wood is currently recruiting for a Blaster/Painter with experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.
The Multi-skilled Abrasive Blaster/Painter is responsible for ensuring that all Fabric Maintenance activities are properly executed and conducted in accordance with Massy Wood Group Ltd. (Company) and Client policies and procedures
Key Duties:
- Ensure HSSE is the primary focus in the execution of all duties and responsibilities, ensuring compliance with Company & Client policies and procedures
- Ensure conformance with HSSE and QA/QC standards of the Company & Client in the execution of daily activities
- Ensuring that items of plant and equipment capable of in-process preventative maintenance work being performed on site are maintained in good order at all times
- Accurately report all accident and or incidents including near misses to Company Supervisor without delay
- Keeping worksite and storage areas tidy and free from debris at all times
- Prepare Permits as per activity planning process, hazard Identification Documents (HIDs) checklist and control sheet in accordance with Work Site Control Standards (WSCS) requirements
- Attend and participate in Client morning meetings and in job tool box meetings
- Conduct Surface Preparation and Coating application using various Surface Preparation and Coating Application Techniques
- Operate equipment for conducting Degreasing, Power Washing, Chipping, Scaling, Buffing, Sanding, Needle Gunning and other methods of Mechanical Cleaning for application of protective coatings
- Utilize and mix paints using paint mixing equipment according to a pre-determined formula and dispose of chemicals based on Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
- Set up Fabric Maintenance Equipment: Abrasive Blast Pots, Paint Pumps, Pressure Washers and similar required equipment
- Conduct Dry and Wet Abrasive Blasting.
- Conduct Spray Painting using airless spray application equipment and Hand Painting using brushes and rollers for painting small items & touch-up painting.
- Conduct cold cutting minor/mods construction activities utilizing powered hand tools (sawzall, pneumatic & magnetic drills) as required by Client such as but not limited to, replacing corroded gratings, handrails, replacement of like for like structural members such as pipe supports, brackets, corroded bolts.
- Support with operational deck hand duties such as, HDA, HLO, ERT team member roles.
- Support with routine lifting operations such as rigging & banksman/slinger duties.
- Removal, installation & application of anti-corrosion wrappings & tapes such as Denso taping belzona etc.
- Load and unload materials and movement of materials to work areas.
- Conduct routine FM quality checks using paint testing kits & recording of same as per clients IM80 coating specifications.
- Perform simple troubleshooting & routine maintenance of fabric maintenance equipment.
- Clean, wash, strip, sand, remove corrosion, fill dents or otherwise prepare items.
- Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate duration based on surface measurements and/or work orders.
- Conduct masking of sensitive equipment and encapsulation of work areas.
- Cut stencils for brush and spray lettering and designs on surfaces.
- Ensure that all tools, equipment and material for painting activities are properly maintained, adequately stocked and stored in an area which is environmentally suitable for storage and safe from tampering.
- Conduct safety audits on all tools, equipment and P.P.E. and report non-conformances to the Company Supervisor
- Assist in the preparation and completion of Task Based Risk Assessments.
- Compile reports as requested by Company Supervisor.
- Perform all other tasks/responsibilities assigned from time to time.
