Overview / Responsibilites

Massy Wood is currently recruiting for an Equipment Planning Coordinator with significant experience in the oil and gas industry.

 

The Equipment Planning Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing equipment management strategies to optimize utilization, control costs, and ensure alignment with business needs. This role provides high-level administrative and technical support in Maximo, oversees preventive maintenance (PM) planning, and serves as the focal point for lease-versus-buy decisions. The Equipment Planning Coordinator will work closely with operations, maintenance, and finance teams to improve visibility into equipment utilization, maintenance spend, and long-term planning.

 

Strategic Planning & Optimization:

  • Develop and implement equipment planning strategies to optimize utilization and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide data-driven insights on equipment usage, maintenance trends, and cost analysis to support decision-making.
  • Establish a framework for evaluating lease vs. buy decisions based on demand, operational needs, and financial impact.

 

Equipment Management & Maintenance Planning:

  • Ensure preventive maintenance (PM) schedules are developed, tracked, and executed in alignment with industry best practices.
  • Monitor equipment performance, downtime, and maintenance spend to identify areas for process improvement.
  • Act as a liaison between operations and maintenance teams to ensure equipment availability and reliability

 

Systems & Administrative Oversight:

  • Utilize Maximo (or equivalent CMMS) to manage equipment data, track maintenance activities, and generate reports.
  • Develop and maintain equipment-related policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Support the standardization of equipment management practices across business units.

 

Financial & Operational Support:

  • Work with finance teams to forecast equipment costs and support budget planning.
  • Track and analyze equipment expenditures, providing insights to optimize cost efficiency.
  • Support contract negotiations for equipment leasing, rentals, and purchases of spare parts and equipment.

 

Reporting and Communication:

  • Generate detailed reports on equipment health and performance
  • Communicate findings to equipment coordinator, and other stakeholders
  • Present recommendations for equipment upgrade or replacements
  • Prepare monthly fixed asset inventory reports

Qualifications

 

  • BSc Degree in Engineering, Business Administration and Management or with an emphasis on Supply Chain and Operations Management, OR
  • National Engineering Technician Diploma; Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation or Industrial.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations for equipment management.
  • Must be able to read and understand written procedures, shipping documents, safety manuals, and safety warning signs.
  • Proven experience in equipment management, preferably within the oil and gas or industrial sectors.
  • Strong understanding of preventative maintenance, repair coordination, and equipment certification.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills across multiple teams and departments.
  • Ability to manage resources effectively and work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Timewriting and asset tracking software is a plus.
