Overview / Responsibilites

Massy Wood is currently recruiting for a QA/QC Lead with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry. 
 

The QA/QC Lead is responsible for overseeing all quality assurance and quality control activities within the TSS Function (Fabrication shop & FMS). This role ensures that all fabricated components meet project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. The QA/QC Lead will manage inspection teams, coordinate with project stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to maintain high-quality output.

 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ASME, AWS).
  • Prepare and update quality plans, ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), and work procedures.
  • Conduct internal audits and process reviews to verify adherence to quality protocols.
  • Provide training and guidance to TSS personnel on quality standards and best practices.
  • Evaluate and monitor supplier and subcontractor quality performance.
  • Train shop personnel on quality standards, welding procedures, and inspection techniques.
  • Review and advised on 3rd parties quality procedures and work instructions.
  • Lead team of inspectors/ Techs and ensure they perform inspections including dimensional checks, visual inspections, and non-destructive testing (NDT).
  • Ensure traceability of materials and compliance with fabrication drawings and specifications.
  • Review and maintain inspection records, test reports, and material certificates.
  • Identify non-conformances, lead root cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Coordinate final inspections and acceptance with clients and third-party inspectors.
  • Lead TSS calibration of all equipment (internal/external).
  • Implement robust system for massy Wood owned equipment certification.
  • Manage Non-Conformance digital tool for tracking and closing out all TSS Non-Conformance.
  • Manage Continuous Improvement digital tool for tracking and closing out all TSS Continuous Improvements.
  • Lead and manage a team of QC inspectors and technicians.
  • Schedule and assign inspection activities to support production timelines.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence.
  • Analyze quality data and trends to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support pre-fabrication meetings and contribute to constructability reviews from a quality perspective.
  • Perform all other related job functions as required.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 15-20 years of QA/QC experience within a fabrication or manufacturing environment in oil & gas projects.
  • Certification in NDT methods  (Level2 -VT, MT, PT, UT, RT) and welding inspection (e.g., API,AWS CWI, CSWIP).
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME IX, B31.3, API 650/1104, AWS D1.1).
  • Experience with fabrication of piping, structural steel, pressure vessels, and skids.
  • Proficiency in quality management systems and documentation tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Worked in a fabrication shop environment as a QA/QC supervisor or lead.
  • Valid Certificate of Good Character (must not be older than 6 months).
  • Preference will be given to national citizens or permanent residents of Trinidad & Tobago.
