Overview / Responsibilites

Massy Wood is recruiting for a Structural Designer with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry,

 

The Structural Designer is responsible for preparing detailed structural drawings and 3D models used for construction, fabrication, and engineering analyses. This role works closely with structural engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure accurate and compliant design deliverables according to industry standards and project requirements.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Produce detailed, accurate shop and erection drawings for steel fabricators.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD tools.
  • Ability to interpret architectural and structural design drawings.
  • Interpret engineering sketches, calculations, and design specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and project managers, including managing RFIs (Requests for Information).
  • Assist with material take-offs (MTOs) and bill of materials (BOM) generation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, piping, electrical, architectural)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Perform drawing checks for accuracy, dimensions, annotations, and constructability.
  • Maintain organized drawing files and controlled document revisions.
  • Experience in industrial sectors (oil & gas, power plants, chemical plants) is a plus.
  • Visit client facilities independantly  both onshore and offshore to perform field verifications and develop reports.

Qualifications

  • Technical Diploma/ degree in design, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  • Usually 7 years of professional design experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex projects independently.


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software (AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of design principles, drafting standards, and project documentation.
  • Ability to adapt techniques, tools, and materials to meet specialized project needs.
  • Valid Certificate of Good Character (must not be older than 6 months).
  • Preference will be given to national citizens or permanent residents of Trinidad & Tobago.
