Overview / Responsibilites

Massy Wood is currently recruiting for an Engineering Lead for our Trinidad office with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.

 

The Engineering Lead is responsible for technical integrity, delivery, budget compliance and resourcing of the engineering service on a contract.

 

  • Promotes and adheres to Massy Wood Group and contract specific engineering management systems and procedures.
  • Promotes solutions that are safe, cost effective, fit for purpose and add value to both Massy Wood Group and the client.
  • Coordinates technical matters relating to the contract between engineering disciplines.
  • Provides guidance in engineering project execution.
  • Assists the Engineering Focal Point as required.
  • Ensures operational and maintenance issues are addressed in the design.
  • Provides engineering input to procurement and construction activities.
  • Ensures the engineering function is represented at contract meetings.
  • Communicates with Discipline Engineers and Designers to ensure design integrity and consistency.
  • Checks and approves engineering deliverables.
  • Reviews work processes of engineering personnel ensuring Massy Wood Group and contract specific management systems and procedures are followed
  • Manages technical queries for the contract.
  • Manages design changes for the contract.
  • Suggests improvements in engineering procedures and working practices to the Engineering Focal Point.
  • Assists with development of engineering personnel.
  • Liaises with the Engineering Focal Point to identify and implement improvements in working practices.
  • Captures and communicates lessons learnt to the Engineering Focal Point.
  • Coaches and trains engineering personnel.
  • Promotes and adheres to Massy Wood Group and contract specific project management systems and procedures.
  • Manages the engineering scope of work, budget, schedule and resource requirement for the contract.
  • Manages engineering changes for the contract.
  • Is the Engineering point of contact for the contract.
  • Delivers the contract engineering scope of work within man-hour budget and schedule.
  • Develops and checks engineering scopes of work, estimates and schedules for the contract.
  • Maintains an overview of all engineering work for the contract.
  • Liaises with client engineering representative.
  • Manages increase or reduction in engineering scope of work for the contract.
  • Identifies and manages areas of concern during the course of the contract and implements necessary corrective action.
  • Provides input to project execution plans and schedules for the contract.
  • Reports engineering progress for the contract and individual projects therein.
  • Uses opportunities at meetings with clients and suppliers/ vendors to learn of additional work which Massy Wood Group could undertake and to promote Massy Wood Group’s capabilities.
  • Represents of Massy Wood Group with clients and suppliers / vendors in a professional manner.
  • Develops working relationship with client and supplier / vendor personnel.
  • Communicates with operations and maintenance personnel to determine any opportunities where Massy Wood Group could provide solutions to existing problems or for improving the existing practice.
  • Plans resources to maintain adequate staff levels considering short and long term requirements of the contract.
  • Ensures engineering personnel are assigned contract roles that match their assessed competence.
  • Identifies resource requirements for the contract to the Engineering Focal Point and ensures that demands are met.
  • Assists Engineering Focal Point with development of engineering personnel working on the contract.
  • Assists Engineering Focal Point with competency assessments of engineering personnel working on the contract.
  • Assists Engineering Focal Point with performance appraisals of engineering personnel working on the contract.
  • Perform all other job-related functions as required.

Qualifications

  • First Degree in Engineering (BSc, BEng).
  • Membership of a professional body 
  • Professional, chartered or registered engineering status
  • Second Degree (MSc, MBA)
  • Formal management

Competencies & Experience

  • Typically, a minimum of 15 years’ relevant
  • Possesses skilled application of discipline software and
  • Possesses skilled application of a majority of discipline
  • Possesses skilled application in managing
  • Possesses skilled application in managing jobs /
  • Possesses a reasonable command of the English language and must be able to communicate English effectively in the field of Engineering.
  • Assessed competent as a Lead Engineer in accordance with the Massy WG Competency System.
  • Certificate of Good Character (must not be older than 6 months)
  • Preference will be given to nationals of Trinidad and Tobago
