The Materials Officer supports the efficient operation of the Materials Management function by overseeing the day-to-day activities of Material Handlers, ensuring accurate receipt, storage, and issuance of materials. This includes conducting process assurance, operating forklifts, acting as a banksman/spotter, and ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient control of materials This role acts as a liaison between Material Handlers and the Material Coordinator, ensuring alignment with inventory control standards, operational requirement, and safety practices.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The incumbent is required to maintain a focus on key deliverables and effective administration activities including but not limited to the following:
- Conduct process assurance by ensuring that all material transactions; including receipts, issues, transfers, and returns, are accurately and timely entered into the inventory management system. Verify documentation completeness, correct system usage, and compliance with materials management procedures.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily tasks of Material Handlers to ensure timely and accurate material movement and documentation.
- Monitor receiving, binning, picking, staging, and dispatching activities to support warehouse and site operations.
- Accurate records in inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo, or other ERP platforms).
- Support cycle counts and inventory audits by verifying physical stock against system records.
- Report discrepancies, damages, or delays in material movements to the Material Coordinator for resolution.
- Enforce adherence to HSE, quality, and housekeeping standards across warehouse and laydown areas.
- Ensure proper labeling, tagging, and traceability of materials according to company procedures.
- Collaborate with logistics and procurement teams to ensure timely updates on material availability and delivery schedules.
- Assist in preparing reports or metrics related to inventory accuracy, material issues, and workflow performance.
- Provide training and guidance to Material Handlers on procedures, safety, and process changes.
